I never knew The Asher House existed until recently. I love to see them unload cages of dogs to their forever home that is filled with love and caring forever for each one. There are such beautiful dogs.

I've always had rescued or stray dogs and cats for pets. But I'm 84 now and can barely take care of myself and can't afford the large vet bills it takes to keep sick pets in better health and all the testing - etc to ensure they don't have any communicable diseases. I'd like to get a little black kitty as I recall that black cats in shelters are not chosen and most end up living out their lives in a shelter.

I chose the dark blue mug as I'm a coffee drinker. Also, I tend to drop things so this mug would not break. I love it. I tend to donate to a variety of charities for pets and for those that help people like what has happened here in N. Carolina. I wasn't caught in the flood but a friend of mind was I think?? I haven't gotten in touch with her yet as all forms of communication are not working in most cases. I'm praying she's ok.

No doubt I'll continue donating to the Asher House as I'm able in small amounts. Or purchase an item to give as a gift. There's an organization called Samaritans Purse that goes all over the world. They put up tents the second day of the flooding to provide shelter for those who'd lost their homes.

I purchased 2 of these to send as a gift for a friend who spends a lot of time outside. They loved the gift especially knowing the proceeds went to help the Asher House.

I love the style of the mug but wish The Asher House logo was in white because the black print on the blue cup can’t be seen.
